Before I answer that question, let me answer: Do I need a blog on my website?
The answer is YES if you want to:
Google is looking for fresh, relevant content written for the human reader.
The more often you blog (within reason), the more traffic you draw to your site. The longer visitors stay on your site, because you’ve got all this great content, the more likely they’re going to do something like buy your product, sign up for a newsletter, request a quote, or whatever your Call-To-Action (CTA) is to capture that visitor and turn them into a lead and later into a sale.
So, How Often Should I Be Blogging?
Depending on your business, no less then weekly. 3 times a week is the charm. MOZ recently did an experiment. They blogged daily for one week. The next week they blogged 2x a day. The following week they blogged 3x in the week. For the amount of effort it took to blog daily and twice a day, the increase in the amount of visitors when they blogged 3 times a week was not that significant.
One of my first clients was U.S. Africa Gateway. The site promoted and encouraged trade between the U.S. and Africa. Because there is some much information with all their emerging markets, it was taking me 2 hours to do a blog post for them. (That’s called “Ghost Writing” where I write for you and you take the credit.) There had to be a better way. Then I went to YouTube and search for “Africa business” and up popped CNBC Africa with videos of interviews with African entrepreneurs and business leaders.

started embedding videos into blog posts. I wrote an intro to the video then summarized it with relevant keywords. Took me 20 minutes. So I could blog for him 3 x a week for what he was paying me. Well, when I looked at his site statistics, the monthly visitors more than doubled from one month to the other and the numbers keep increasing. We wend from an average of 500 a month to 1500 a month in 3 months! Wow, it really works! Now it works if you incorporate social media with the blog posts. You need to use social media to promote your blog posts and attract people to your site.
